Activity Overview

Value frameworks such as dossiers provide a vital structure for presenting information and evidence needed by health care decision makers when evaluating new health technologies, including new drug therapies. Some value frameworks have long been established while others are relatively new, and various frameworks are found all over the world. In 2016, the Academy of Managed Care Pharmacy released the AMCP Format 4.0, an updated version of the AMCP Format that provides guidance to manufacturers on developing a value dossier that meets the evidence requirements of U.S. payers and providers involved in health care decision making.

This session will provide an overview of the AMCP Format 4.0 as a value framework and provide a comparison with existing and emerging value frameworks from the U.S. and other countries. In addition, this session will discuss the similarities among various global frameworks and how this could lead to a consensus global framework in the future.

Learning Objectives:

At the completion of this activity, participants should be able to:

1. Discuss attributes of the Academy of Managed Care Pharmacy Format 4.0 as a US-based value framework and other emerging US value frameworks.

2. Summarize value assessment frameworks for new health technologies used in countries outside of the United States.

3. Describe the similarities between several global value assessment frameworks and which of these similarities could potentially lead to a consensus document on global health technology assessments.
