Activity Description

In today’s world there are many uncertainties, especially with the COVID-19 pandemic, but health care legislation and regulation continue to move at a staggering pace. It is vital for managed care professionals to stay abreast of upcoming legislative and regulatory activity to prepare for potential changes that can impact their practice.

This must-attend session will bring you timely updates on the latest federal and state legislative and regulatory actions of interest to managed care and specialty pharmacy professionals. In addition, this session will include current developments on Capitol Hill and within federal agencies and state governments on topics such as the high cost of medications, utilization management, updates on Medicare Parts B and D, and policies related to biologic and biosimilars. Session leaders will also discuss the current political environment and how the upcoming elections may impact policies of interest to managed care pharmacy.

Learning Objectives:

At the completion of this activity, participants should be able to:

  1. Describe at least one proposal that will impact formularies and medication management decisions by health plans in the coming year.
  2. Summarize federal proposals from the past year and the potential impact on managed care pharmacy.
  3. Discuss at least two major state legislative trends that may have an impact on managed care pharmacy.
  4. Identify at least one regulatory action that will impact the practices of managed care pharmacy professionals next year. 

Schedule of Educational Activity:

This activity consists of an audio recording, pre-test assessment questions (not required to pass to continue), post-test questions (required to pass with a score of 70% or higher), and a specific activity evaluation.
