Activity Description

The COVID-19 pandemic had a significant impact on state legislation and regulation. Drug pricing and the affordability of healthcare, which were hot topics early in 2020, were no longer a priority. However, given that 2020 is an election year, these topics are moving back to the forefront of political discussions. This session aims to provide legislative updates impacting the practice of managed care pharmacy at the state level. Topics such as PBM regulation, drug pricing, and importation will be discussed. Member engagement through grassroots advocacy efforts will also be covered.

At the completion of this activity, participants should be able to:

  1. List three major state legislative proposals that impact managed care pharmacy.
  2. Summarize PBM Regulation bills and their potential impact on the practice of managed care pharmacy.
  3. Discuss state legislative trends as it relates to addressing drug pricing.
