Shooting for the Stars! The Crucial Role of Health Care Partner Collaboration in Medicare Star Ratings

Session Description:

Starting in measurement year 2021, CMS reinforced the importance of the member experience by quadruple-weighing the patient experience measures of the Consumer Assessment of Healthcare Providers and Systems (CAHPS) survey. CAHPS will represent up to a third of plan sponsor’s overall 2023 Star Rating. Achieving a great member experience will require collaboration and coordination from the health plan across all touch points including members, providers, and pharmacies.

Key components of the survey include care coordination, provider communication, getting needed care, and the coordination of healthcare needs. Join this session to hear the speakers discuss strategies and actions health plan pharmacy teams can use to improve the member experience in addition to the process and outcomes measures of Part C and Part D Stars performance.

  • Describe the components of the Consumer Assessment of Health Care Providers and Systems (CAHPS) survey.
