Program Description
The CY 2025 Medicare Part D Redesign will introduce changes that will impact how people view Medicare. The implications of the IRA and its provisions continue to impact every stakeholder from beneficiaries and health plans to PBMs and pharmaceutical manufacturers.
This session will focus on the successes and challenges that stakeholders are experiencing as they prepare for the CY 2025 Medicare Part D redesign as well as the Medicare Prescription Payment Plan.
Target Audience
This knowledge-based activity has been designed to meet the educational needs of pharmacists in managed care settings.
Learning Objectives
At the completion of this activity, participants should be able to:
- Describe the early successes and challenges managed care stakeholders are experiencing following the implementation of certain provisions of the Inflation Reduction Act (i.e., drug price negotiation, Part D redesign).
- Explain the formulary/benefit design actions that are being taken at the PBM and health plan levels based on the Inflation Reduction Act, including how the government drug price negotiations will impact the rest of the marketplace.
- Identify the effect that changes to the Part D benefit in 2025 may have on patient choices and the consumerism of health care.
