Bridging the Gap: Applying the AMCP Real-World Evidence (RWE) Standards to Facilitate Communication Between Manufacturers and Payers
Pricing: Free for Members and $30 for Non-Members
Course Description
Real-world evidence (RWE), generated from real-world data (RWD), has great potential in expanding the totality of evidence to bridge the gap between research and clinical care. The AMCP Research Institute launched the RWE Initiative to develop a set of RWE standards to facilitate efficient communication and ensure that RWE produced by pharmaceutical manufacturers meets the expectations and needs of payers and formulary decision-makers throughout the drug product life cycle. Through an interactive panel discussion, attendees will learn how to apply the AMCP RWE Standards from both the RWE producer (e.g., pharmaceutical company) and RWE user (e.g., payer) perspectives. Panelists will apply the Standards to a real-world use case and demonstrate how they can facilitate two-way communication around RWE. Participants will learn practical approaches to obtaining RWE, assessing study quality, interpreting findings, and gain a comprehensive understanding of how to use the AMCP RWE Standards to inform strategic decision-making.
Target Audience
Pharmacists who practice in managed care settings.
Learning Objectives
At the completion of this activity, participants should be able to:
- Describe the elements of the AMCP RWE Standards, developed through multi-stakeholder consensus, and how the Standards support the AMCP Dossier.
- Recognize how to assess and interpret different types of RWE and how they may be used in payer or formulary decision-making.
- Discuss how to apply the AMCP RWE Standards from the RWE producer (e.g., pharmaceutical company) and RWE user (e.g., payer) perspectives to support two-way communication and incorporation into payer decision processes.
