Program Description

While mortality rates from non–small cell lung cancer (NSCLC) have decreased significantly in recent years, NSCLC remains the leading cause of cancer-related death. The advent and rapid evolution of precision oncology have fundamentally altered the treatment landscape, as an expanding array of actionable biomarkers now inform the use of highly effective targeted therapies and immunotherapies throughout the disease continuum, improving survival rates.

This session explores the evolving NSCLC landscape, emerging treatment options, and the role of managed care in supporting timely, equitable access to biomarker-driven care. Participants will review current evidence, guideline updates, and practical strategies for integrating precision medicine into coverage decisions, formulary management, and patient access programs.

This activity is supported by an independent medical education grant from Boehringer Ingelheim Pharmaceuticals, Inc and Regeneron Pharmaceuticals.

Target Audience

This knowledge-based activity has been designed to meet the educational needs of pharmacists in managed care settings.

Learning Objectives

At the completion of this program, participants should be able to:

  1. Review the impact of genomic profiling and molecular subtyping in NSCLC classification, treatment selection, and individualized therapeutic approaches to optimize patient outcomes.
  2. Identify key emerging precision therapies in NSCLC, focusing on enhanced treatment efficacy, minimizing adverse effects, and improving the quality of life for NSCLC patients.
  3. Identify payer strategies to address gaps and delays in access to precision medicine for NSCLC patients, including policy and benefit design considerations.
