Epidemiological data from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) will be reviewed to describe the HIV epidemic in the United States including communities disproportionately affected. The interplay of social determinants of health and the health disparities they create in vulnerable populations of PLWH will be discussed. Clinical and economic consequences of suboptimal care in PLWH will be described. Potential managed care/clinical initiatives will be reviewed.
Target Audience
Pharmacists who practice in managed care settings.
