Program Description

Artificial intelligence is beginning to reshape how medicine is practiced and more specifically how medications are prescribed, reviewed, and monitored - and Utah is one of the first states to pilot an AI-enabled prescribing model at scale. In this webinar, Dr. Byron Crowe of Doctronic will provide a high-level overview of the Utah AI prescribing pilot, explaining how the model works in practice and what it could mean for the future of medication management.

Designed for managed care pharmacists, the session will explore how AI is being used to support clinical decision-making at the point of prescribing, including how patient data, clinical guidelines, and safety checks are integrated into the workflow. Dr. Crowe will also discuss the governance, oversight, and regulatory considerations that shaped the pilot, as well as early lessons learned around safety, quality, and provider adoption.

The webinar will conclude with a forward-looking discussion on where AI-enabled prescribing is headed - implications for utilization management, formulary strategy, prior authorization, and the evolving role of pharmacists in an AI-supported care model.
