Identifying the Managed Care Impact of Bipolar Disorder: Treatment Advancements, Accurate Diagnosis, and Equitable Care

Pricing: Free for Members and Non-Members

Course Description

Bipolar disorders (BD) are debilitating mental health conditions impacting approximately 4.4% of the United States population and ranked among the top 10 conditions causing medical disability among individuals between the ages of 15 and 44, with a potential loss of approximately 10 to 20 years of life. Misdiagnosis continues to remain a prevalent issue, often leading to delayed or inappropriate treatment interventions by a mean of approximately 9 years from an initial depressive episode, exacerbating the disease severity and complicating management. Disparities continue to further complicate barriers to optimal care and add to the overall burden of mental health. Faculty for this session will focus on the latest advancements in bipolar disorder management to align managed care strategies that support accurate and timely diagnosis and bridge access and utilization of care for marginalized groups.
