Program Description

Population health and managed care pharmacy are often discussed as separate concepts, yet much of today’s pharmacy work sits squarely at their intersection. This webinar is designed to introduce the basics, creating a shared foundation of language and understanding for professionals working across health systems, payers, pharmaceutical organizations, and related settings. Participants will explore how population health, value-based care, and managed care pharmacy overlap in practice—even when professionals don’t identify their work as managed care. By clarifying terminology and roles, this session helps attendees better understand where they fit within the broader healthcare ecosystem and how their work aligns with AMCP’s mission.

Learning Objectives

At the completion of this program, participants should be able to:

  1. Define key terms related to population health, managed care pharmacy, and value-based care using a shared, practical vocabulary.
  2. Identify where various professional roles fit within the managed care-population health continuum, including areas of overlap across health systems, payers, pharmaceutical organizations, and other stakeholders.
  3. Explain how population health activities align with managed care principles.
