From MFP to MFN — Price Controls, Politics & the Rebate Reckoning
Pricing: Free for Members and Non-Members
Course Description
Federal drug pricing policy is moving rapidly from the Medicare Drug Price Negotiation Program (MFP) toward renewed interest in most-favored-nation (MFN)–style approaches, with ripple effects far beyond their stated intent. As price controls intersect with rebates, Medicaid best price, 340B, and growing price transparency, traditional pricing and formulary strategies are being tested in real time. Drawing on perspectives from policy, economics, and managed care leaders, this session unpacks how these policies transmit through markets—and where theory breaks down in practice. Attendees will explore unintended consequences, including launch delays, benefit disruptions, rebate erosion, and shifting stakeholder trust. The discussion emphasizes practical implications for payers navigating affordability pressures, political uncertainty, and evolving pricing architectures.
Target Audience
Pharmacists who practice in managed care settings.
