RWE in Action: Using the AMCP RWE Standards to Facilitate Formulary Decisions
Pricing: Free for Members and Non-Members
Course Description
Real-world evidence (RWE), generated from real-world data (RWD), has great potential to expand the totality of evidence and bridge the gap between research and its implementation in clinical care. The AMCP Research Institute has created the AMCP RWE Standards as part of our RWE Initiative to facilitate efficient communication and use of RWE in payer decision-making processes. Attendees will be presented with hypothetical data from clinical trials and RWE studies, communicated in accordance with the RWE Standards best practices, to demonstrate how different evidence can influence or change decisions and impact confidence in the initial decisions made. Through an interactive discussion, panelists will take attendees through the formulary decision-making process following the AMCP RWE Standards, using the hypothetical data as the use case. Participants will learn practical approaches to obtaining RWE, assessing study quality, and interpreting findings, and will gain a comprehensive understanding of how to use the AMCP RWE Standards to inform strategic decision-making.
Target Audience
Pharmacists who practice in managed care settings.
Learning Objectives
At the completion of this activity, participants should be able to:
- Describe why real-world evidence (RWE) is important for payer decision-making.
- Discuss the AMCP RWE Standards and how the standards can help payers incorporate RWE into their formulary decision processes.
- Review a RWE study to explore how to assess quality and rigor for payer or formulary decision-making.
