Course Description

As the specialty pharmaceutical pipeline continues to erupt, it is important to stay up-to-date on key late Phase 3 products, as well as those with pending approval dates over the next year. This pipeline session will focus on new and emerging specialty medications and their projected time to market, any potential FDA or legal delays, their potential place in therapy, and implications for managed care pharmacy.

Learning Objectives

At the completion of this activity, participants should be able to:

  1. Identify high-impact specialty and biosimilar drugs that are recently approved or likely to emerge from the pharmaceutical pipeline in the next 12 months.
  2. Describe the mechanism of action and expected indications of promising agents in the pipeline.
  3. Outline key Pharmacy and Therapeutics Committee considerations and cost impacts of specialty pipeline products.
  4. Discuss FDA, legal, or current events that may impact important pipeline drug release dates or sales.
